THIRD WAN HAI PACIFIC SERVICE IS POSTPONED

The launch of a third transpacific service by Wan Hai Lines has been postponed.

The Taiwanese carrier had planned to start a monthly transpacific service called HTP in June, but its launch has been delayed until July or August, said a spokesperson for CMA CGM. CMA CGM is planning to charter space on the new service.

A spokesman for Wan Hai at its head office in Taiwan would not comment on the plan. The new service is expected to call at Hong Kong, Taiwan and Los Angeles.

Wan Hai, the largest intra-Asia carrier, entered the transpacific trade in May with slot-charter arrangements with CMA CGM and Norasia Lines.
