THREE U.S. AIRLINES APPLY FOR MORE CHINA ROUTES

United, Northwest and Federal Express, U.S. airlines that already fly
directly to China, have applied for additional routes under a new
U.S.-China aviation agreement.
The new aviation agreement will double traffic between the countries
from 27 weekly flights to 54 by April 2001. At that time, both countries
will be able to add a carrier.
FedEx is bidding for 14 of the 17 additional flights to be made
available this year and next, including eight this year.
