Tilden, Bloom to receive “Connie” awards
Douglas Tilden, chairman of the stevedoring company Ports America Group, and Ken Bloom, chief executive officer for the shipping Web portal INTTRA, will be the 2008 recipients of the Containerization & Intermodal Institute’s “Connie” awards.
They will be recognized at a luncheon on Dec. 8 at the Newark Club, Newark, N.J.
Ports America is the largest stevedoring and terminal operating company in the Americas. Tilden was formerly CEO of Marine Terminals Corp. and an executive at U.S. Lines.
Bloom has overseen INTTRA’s development from a start-up in 2001 to where it now processes more than 10 percent of all global containerized trade.
In addition to the awards, CII will present four scholarships to maritime academy and college students.
