TMM, U.S. CUSTOMS SIGN COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT
Transportacion Maritima Mexicana and U.S. Customs signed an agreement to
jointly combat the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband.
In the agreement, signed in Laredo, Texas, Friday, TMM, and its
subsidiary Transportacion Ferroviaria Mexicana (TFM), will commit to the installation of a
strong security system in its facilities and
transportation equipment. The company also promised more supervision of employees and
better detecting and reporting procedures for illegal
incidents.
Customs will provide TMM with assessments, counseling, supervision, training,
assistance and information to combat drug smuggling. By participating in the agreement may
help to reduce fines when drugs are found.
