TONY FARR STEPS DOWN AS HEAD OF SAFMARINE

    Tony Farr has stepped down as managing director of Safmarine.
Safmarine said that the A. P. Moller group, its new parent company, has assumed management
control of the company.
    Farr, who had been managing director of Safmarine since 1989, will
become a non-executive director of Safmarine and of Maersk South Africa.
Howard Boyd remains chief executive officer of Safmarine Container Lines.
