TOTE says engine for Puerto Rico ship delivered

TOTE said a dual-fuel, slow-speed engine for the first of its new “Marlin Class” ships was delivered to General Dynamics’ NASSCO’s shipyard in San Diego. TOTE is building two of the new ships for the U.S. mainland-Puerto Rico trade. The ships can burn natural gas as well liquid fuel. The company said cryogenic tanks for LNG were also delivered.
Doosan Engine, under license from MAN Diesel and Turbo, delivered the engine after months of testing to ensure compliance with U.S. regulations and restrictions.
NASSCO said the first Marlin ship is nearly 40-percent complete and that construction of the second began in late May. The ships are to be delivered in late 2015 and early 2016.
