TRAC adding 16,000 chassis to fleet

CEO says intermodal equipment provider is “on track to meet the ambitious plans we set for ourselves.”

TRAC Intermodal is accelerating its fleet modernization program by adding 16,000 premium chassis in 2018, the company said in a statement.
The Princeton, N.J.-based intermodal marine equipment provider and chassis pool operator will add 8,000 new and 8,000 fully refurbished chassis to its fleet, including more than 2,000 chassis to its Gulf Regional Pool (TGRP) alone.
More than 25 percent of the 20,000 chassis currently in service in the TGRP already have been upgraded, according to TRAC.
“We are continuing our investments in the Gulf by adding premium quality chassis that meet the rigorous and specialized needs of our customers in this region,” said Keith Lovetro, president and chief executive officer at TRAC Intermodal. “We have expanded our TGRP fleet by over 10 percent in just the first half of 2018 and are planning to add more equipment during the balance of this year.”
Since beginning its fleet modernization program in 2015, TRAC has also upgraded more than 40 percent of its Metro Pool and 15 percent of its Marine East Pool fleets.
“We’re on track to meet the ambitious plans we set for ourselves to modernize our marine chassis fleet and provide our customers with the most reliable equipment available in the industry,” said Lovetro. “As the industry leader, TRAC is committed to meeting our customers’ requirements for chassis that are safe, high quality and always available through the TRAC chassis pools across the country.”
