The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) presented awards to recognize the efforts of Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) members who volunteered their time and equipment to haul The Wall That Heals in 2018. The presentation was made by VVMF’s Director of Outreach Tim Tetz during TCA’s 81st Annual Convention at the Wynn Las Vegas Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Our partnership with TCA allowed us to bring the more than 58,000 service members inscribed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial home to hundreds of thousands of visitors in 2018,” said Tetz. “Leading the way into each of the 38 communities we visited was a truck owned and operated by a TCA member showing their dedication and commitment to America’s veterans.”
The following TCA-member companies were recognized:
- Barber Trucking, Inc. of Brookville, Pennsylvania
- Baylor Trucking, Inc. of Milan, Indiana
- Clifford C. Hay Inc. of Cobleskill, New York
- Dart Transit Company of Eagan, Minnesota
- Diamond Transportation System, Inc. of Racine, Wisconsin
- Don Hummer Trucking, Inc. of Oxford, Iowa
- Fred Black Enterprises of Patriot, Indiana
- Halvor Lines, Inc. of Superior, Wisconsin
- Load One Transportation & Logistics of Taylor, Michigan
- P. I. & I. Motor Express, Inc. of Masury, Ohio
- Wil-Trans of Springfield, Missouri
The Wall That Heals exhibit is hauled in a 53-foot trailer and includes a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial along and a mobile Education Center. With the help of TCA’s partnership and the companies mentioned above, the traveling exhibit honors the men and women who served and sacrificed their lives in the Vietnam War.
Trucking companies are needed to haul The Wall That Heals in 2019. Interested companies may complete an online interest form at www.vvmf.org/haul-the-wall.
