U.S. Customs sets tuna tariff-rate quota for 2004
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has set the 2004 tariff-rate quota for tuna packed in air-tight containers at 22,894,238 kilograms at an ad valorem duty rate of 6 percent.
The tariff-rate quota applies to tuna entered or withdrawn from warehouses for consumption during the period Jan. 1-Dec. 31. This tuna is covered under the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule subheading 1604.14.22.
Any tuna entered or withdrawn from warehouses for consumption during the current calendar year in excess of this quota will be dutiable at the rate of 12.5 percent ad valorem, U.S. Customs said.
