U.S FMC TO HOLD CLOSED MEETING
The U.S Federal Maritime Commission will meet Thursday to discuss shipping
restrictions in China and the definition of the term ‘shipper.’
U.S.-flag carriers are concerned about restrictions allegedly imposed at
Chinese ports, including the banning of office operations of wholly-owned
American companies.
The National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America has
petitioned the FMC to re-define the term ‘shipper.’ NCBFAA says the current interpretation
is too restrictive.
