U.S. pledges more aid to war-battered Lebanon
The U.S. Agency for International Development has pledged to help war-battered Lebanon by spending $230 million for emergency reconstruction aid.
This aid will help to cover cost of removing debris and repairing damaged homes. The agency will provide Lebanese fishermen with new nets, hooks and other materials lost in the fighting.
USAID donated 300 metric tons of lentils and 700 metric tons of wheat to the United Nations’ World Food Program for Lebanon relief efforts. That aid was shipped this week from U.S. prepositioning warehouses in Dubai and Jordan.
