UASC receives latest 6,900-TEU ship
United Arab Shipping Co. on Monday received the fourth of eight 6,919-TEU containerships from South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The Bahraini-flagged vessel Mayssan, which translates as plenty of fresh water, will join its three sister vessels Hatta, Al Safat and Al Bahia on the weekly Asia/Middle East/Europe Asia-Europe Container (AEC) service.
The eight new ships from HHI, ordered in March 2005 at a cost of $850 million, will replace ships of about 3,800 TEUs.
Hanjin Shipping, Senator Lines, CSAV Norasia and Hapag-Lloyd all take space on various legs of the AEC.
