Uncertain times call for firm GTM plans

American Shipper’s new GTM Landscape Report has detailed the areas in which shippers need to systematically track and quantify how external trade policy dynamics are affecting their supply chains.

A new report from American Shipper, BPE Global and the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) details the areas in which companies should focus their internal and external resources to improve their global trade compliance efficiency in a period of extreme turbulence.
Up in the Air: Building a data foundation for a trade world in flux, American Shipper’s annual GTM Landscape Report, takes importers and exporters through the critical decisions they need to make to cope with an uncertain trade policy environment.
In particular, the report urges global shippers to build internal readiness by being hyper-aware of changing external dynamics, both in terms of higher level trade policy and more granular trade content. It also calls on shippers to quantify the impact of those changes to their bottom line. That’s largely achievable through investment in systems, whether a standalone piece of software or via a customs broker or freight forwarder.
To that end, the report concludes with a section on how shippers should think about rightsourcing their trade compliance needs, depending on their size, the complexity of their compliance function, and available human and technology resources internally.
American Shipper’s GTM Landscape Report has become the go-to early year resource for trade compliance practitioners in the know, providing a path to automation, process efficiency and C-level attention on this critical area of international business.
