UP taps Betsworth to head intermodal

   Union Pacific has appointed Kate Betsworth to vice president of intermodal operations.
   She will direct the railroad’s intermodal facilities and network operations. UP operates 34 intermodal facilities across its 32,000-mile network.
   Betsworth has more than 18 years of experience at UP and most recently served as assistant vice president and general manager of UP Distribution Services. She replaces Barry Michaels, who recently left the company.
   David Giandinoto was promoted to assistant vice president and general manager of Distribution Services (UPDS). UPDS is a subsidiary that sets up rail-based logistics programs. An 18-year Union Pacific veteran, Giandinoto has held a variety of management positions in the company’s operations and marketing and sales departments. He most recently served as general superintendent transportation services for the Chicago Service Unit.
