UPS opens healthcare logistics facility in Colombia

The Atlanta-based parcel giant also unveiled plans to spend $180 million constructing a new package processing hub outside of Phoenix, Ariz.

UPS has opened a new healthcare-dedicated facility in Colombia to serve the growing pharmaceutical, biopharma and medical device industry in Latin America, the parcel giant said.
The 76,000-square-foot multi-client facility offers distribution services, warehouse management, and late-stage customization solutions such as labeling, product kitting and configuration, and repackaging.
Looking ahead, UPS has plans to establish a new package processing hub in Goodyear, Ariz., a suburb of Phoenix.
UPS will invest over $180 million in the Goodyear hub, which is expected to be completed in late 2019.
“A portion of the building is expected to begin operating later this year in time for the busy holiday season to provide additional processing and efficient automated sorting capacity for lightweight small packages typical of e-commerce that are moving throughout Arizona and the Southwest,” UPS said.
Once fully complete, the hub will bring over 1,500 jobs to the Goodyear area.
