UPS OPENS TEXAS LOGISTICS CENTER FOR NAFTA TRADE
UPS Logistics Group, a division of transport conglomerate United Parcel Service, has opened a 32,000-square-foot logistics facility in Laredo, Texas, to facilitate trade between Mexico, Canada and the United States.
UPS said the consolidation and distribution center will focus on Mexico’s burgeoning maquiladora industry by providing support management, cross-docking, warehousing and order fulfillment services.
The facility, part of a UPS border network including sites in El Paso and San Diego, can hold up to 88 trailers and will house U.S. Customs and Mexican customs brokers to process shipments. UPS also plans to offer value-added services, including on-site labeling, light assembly and supplier-managed inventory programs.
