USTR PREPARES FOR WTO MULTILATERAL AGRICULTURE, SERVICES NEGOTIATIONS

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative’s Trade Policy Staff Committee is requesting comments from the industry to prepare for upcoming multilateral agriculture and services negotiations at the World Trade Organization.

Agriculture topics to be addressed include market access, domestic support, export competition and other rules affecting trade in agricultural products. Comments may also include commodity-specific negotiating objectives; country and product specific export interests and barriers; and experience with particular measures such as tariff-rate quota administration.

For services, topics for negotiating includes removal or reduction of barriers to U.S. service exports under the current General Agreement on Trade in Services; market access; and other clarifications to the agreement.

Comments are also welcomed for broader negotiations on non-agricultural market access.

The Trade Policy Staff Committee will receive comments through May 12. For more information, contact the committee in Washington at (202) 395-3475.
