UTi Worldwide Inc. opens contract logistics facility in Mexico

The global supply chain services and solutions provider opened a new contract logistics facility in Irapuato, Mexico to support client growth in the automotive and high-tech electronics industries.

   UTi Worldwide Inc. opened a new contract logistics facility in Irapuato, Mexico to support client growth in the automotive and high-tech electronics industries, the company said in a statement.
   Irapuato is situated in the Bajio region of north central Mexico, which recently became a hub for automotive and high-tech electronics manufacturers and suppliers.
   Conveniently located near major highways, the new facility features 2,500 square meters of multi-client warehousing space with a handling capacity of 2,800 pallets. In addition, the new location has potential for rapid expansion.
   The facility enables value-added contract logistics such as vendor-managed inventory, sub-assembly, kitting and the development of ship-to-line models (upon request).
   In Mexico alone, UTi operates contract logistics facilities totaling 70,000 square meters of dedicated and multi-client warehousing space.
   Based out of Long Beach, Calif., and with operations in 59 countries, UTi primarily handles air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, distribution, customs brokerage, managed transportation services and supply chain analysis and consulting.
