VOLKSWAGEN SIGNS TNT IN UNITED KINGDOM
The U.K. subsidiary of German automaker Volkswagen has signed up TNT Post Group’s logistics unit to provide spare parts warehousing and distribution beginning in 2001.
The five-year contract is valued at about $150 million. TNT, which has had a long running relationship with Volkswagen, will operate the automaker’s warehouses in the interim under an existing contract.
TNT said it will build a new 70,000-square-meter parts center to support the business, employing some 400 people in late 2001.
