Wang, Evergreen Marine Corp. chairman, dies

   C.J. Wang (Wang, Chung-Jinn), chairman of Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan) Ltd., died of illness on Sept. 20.
   He was 61.  
   Anchor Chang (Chang, Cheng-Yung), president of the company, will temporarily handle the chairman’s duties until a new chairman is elected by the board.
   Wang, a graduate of the Kaohisung Marine College, started his career at Evergreen in 1976 as a third officer and was made captain in 1985. He came ashore in 1987 and worked in Los Angeles and Taipei. He was a manager at Evergreen Container Terminal in Thailand from 1997 until 2000, when he transferred back to Taipei to make more responsibilities.
   He advanced through the company and became president of Evergreen Marine Corp. in 2010, then vice chairman and chairman the following year.
   Evergeen Marine Corp., formed by Y.F. Chang on Sept. 1, 1968, is the “mother company” and principal shipping arm of the Evergreen Group conglomerate.
