Wared Logistics, a unit of the Saudi-based Construction Products Holding Co., is nearing completion of the first temperature-controlled warehouse in a series planned for operation in Saudi Arabia by mid-2012.
This first warehouse is a 5,000-square-meter facility in Riyadh and is expected to be fully functional by Jan. 1. This operation will be followed by others in Jeddah, Dammam, and other locations in central and southern Saudi Arabia. The company expects to have 15,000 square meters of refrigerated warehousing space by the middle of next year.
“Temperature-controlled warehousing for finished products represents the higher end of the market,” said Chief Executive Officer Marwan Alfadl. “Entry barriers are relatively high in terms of investment and know-how.”
Alfadl also said Wared is currently expanding its fleet of reefer trucks to distribute its frozen-stored goods.
