Warehouse development rejected in New Jersey

A South Brunswick, N.J. planning board last week turned down a plan to build a 744,000-square-foot warehouse near Exit 8a on the New Jersey Turnpike.

The Home News Tribune in New Brunswick quoted an official from Matrix Development Group as saying it would defend its right to build on the property, which is zoned for industrial use. The paper said the company planned to construct as much as 1.5 million square feet of space at the site near Route 130 and Friendship Road.

The development was opposed by local residents concerned about noise, air pollution from trucks using the facility and possible runoff from the site.
