Webgistix Corp., a provider of electronic order fulfillment services based in Las Vegas, has unveiled its SmartFreight platform offering midsized eCommerce retailers a way to manage international and domestic freight moves.
SmartFreight monitors freight moves from manufacturers, distributors and warehouses to Webgistix fulfillment centers located in the United States, Europe, and Asia with plans to open a U.K. facility in 2012.
The platform is a combination of available technology and consulting services built on Webgistix’s existing SmartFill order-fulfillment platform. SmartFreight services include carrier selection, freight scheduling, customs management, and shipment tracking.
SmartFreight can produce a step-by-step freight plan customized for each retailer. The plan covers freight management and movement from a variety of angles and can be adjusted if companies use its built-in carrier negotiation tools to adjust rates. The service also includes an ocean transportation intermediary that allows Webgistix customers to work directly with shipping lines.
