Yang Ming, RCL commence intra-Southeast Asia service

The two ocean carriers joined forces to launch a new service connecting Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Ocean carriers Yang Ming and Regional Container Lines (RCL) will launch a new service June 22 from Singapore with the rotation of Singapore, Bangkok, Singapore, Belawan, Port Klang and back to Singapore, RCL said in a statement.
According to Yang Ming’s online service schedule, the new loop, which Yang Ming dubbed the SE5, will operate with two vessels, the Nanta Bhum and YM Harmony.
The 1,248-TEU Nanta Bhum is registered in Thailand and operated by RCL, while the 1,500-TEU YM Harmony is registered in Taiwan and operated by Yang Ming.
“This service will provide a more stable schedule for Bangkok (PAT) with the addition of a second vessel in the rotation,” RCL said in a statement. “Dipping in Port Klang (Westport) allows SOC customers to choose between Singapore and Port Klang for their transhipment requirement ex Belawan. This service also provides a direct ride through between Bangkok (PAT) and Belawan and vice versa for both our SOC and COC customers.”
