Yilport announces 5 percent growth in container handling

The company’s Latin American container handling grew 23 percent year-over-year.

   Yilport Holding announced Monday its worldwide terminals handled 6.41 million TEU containers in 2018, a 5 percent growth over its 2017 volume, according to a press release.
   The company’s Latin American container handling volume grew 23 percent from 2017 to 380,276 TEUs.
   Turkey’s Yilport Gebze and Yilport Gemlik terminals both recorded an 11 percent year-over-year increase in 2018. The former handled 554,223 TEUs and the latter 524,652 TEUs.
   Iberian terminal Yilport Leixões grew 6 percent to 660,835 TEUs despite overall Iberian container volume remaining flat, according to the release.
   Yilport’s Nordic terminal portfolio in Sweden and Norway grew 2 percent to 474,535 TEUs. General cargo in the region grew 8 percent to 2.22 million tons.
   Last year, Yilport Holding, a port management and logistics subsidiary of Yildrim Group, terminals also recorded 11.86 million tons of general cargo volume, 444,973 CEUs of ro-ro operations and 3.51 million cubic meters of liquid cargo volume, according to the press release.
   Yilport Holding operates 21 marine ports in nine countries. The Mississippi State Port Authority signed a letter of intent last April with the Turkey-based terminal operator to discuss future port expansion and an exclusive lease.
