YRC Freight unveils ‘Accelerated’ shipping solution

The Overland Park, Kan-based less-than-truckload provider introduced its new “Accelerated” service, allowing shipments to reach their destinations one to two days quicker than standard transit times.

YRC Freight has introduced its new “accelerated” service, allowing shipments to reach their destinations one to two days quicker than standard transit times, the less-than-truckload provider said in a statement.
Customers will pay an extra 15 percent on average for the accelerated shipment option, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. The accelerated shipments will take priority and be loaded onto trucks before standard shipments, but will not be delivered at guaranteed times in the same way as the time critical shipments, which are dispatched as quickly as possible, even sometimes by air, to make delivery deadline, WSJ said.
The accelerated shipment option is offered throughout the continental United States and as a cross-border service between the U.S., Canada and Mexico. In addition, the accelerated shipments continue to move over the weekend with no delay, YRC Freight said.
“This new service addition, combined with our already comprehensive portfolio of services and coverage, creates the opportunity for customers to use YRC Freight in every aspect of their supply chain,” YRC Freight President Darren Hawkins said.
