YRC Worldwide denies Yellow, Roadway merger plans

Overland Park, Kan.-based holding company YRC Worldwide Inc. has denied claims it plans to merge its Yellow Transportation and Roadway operations, as reported by U.S. publication Transport Topics.

“Our strategy has been and continues to be to offer our customers quality service and multiple capabilities through our well established, separate brands,” said Bill Zollars, YRC’s chairman, president and chief executive officer. “At no time have we stated an intention to combine the operations of Yellow Transportation and Roadway.”

During a recent analyst conference the company did say it is working to integrate the technology platforms of Yellow and Roadway as well as combining the corporate sales channels of Yellow, Roadway and other regional transportation companies during 2008 to provide customers with a single point of contact. Transport Topics has agreed to print a correction in its next issue.

Besides Yellow and Roadway, YRC’s list of brands includes Reimer Express, YRC Logistics, New Penn, USF Holland, USF Reddaway, and USF Glen Moore.
