The third-party logistics provider opened its dedicated Pharma Gateway facility at Amsterdam Schiphol, which will handle prescription medications and ‘live’ materials such as vaccines, antibiotics, biotechnology and healthcare equipment.
Yusen Logistics opened its dedicated Pharma Gateway facility at Amsterdam Schiphol, officially launching the company’s Good Distribution Practice (GDP) compliant global pharma airfreight services.
The facility features 1,200 square meters of bonded GDP compliant warehousing space; and 125 cubic meters of cold store unit capacity with 45 pallet positions for the storage of products between 2 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius (35.6 degrees Fahrenheit and 46.4 degrees Fahrenheit), Yusen said in a statement.
Products handled at the new facility include prescription medications and ‘live’ materials such as vaccines, antibiotics, biotechnology and healthcare equipment.
The primary destinations for the company’s pharmaceutical airfreight shipments from Amsterdam include JFK, Sao Paulo, Toronto, Santiago de Chile, Japan, Korea, Manila and Sydney.
“The operation links Yusen Logistics’ Antwerp import/export consolidation center and European central warehouse with its Schiphol Air operations, to form a true multi-modal hub,” the company said in a statement. “This is managed from a single control tower, manned by a UK based international team linked to Yusen Logistics’ offices around the world.”
