Zildjian contracts with Ozburn-Hessey for distribution
Zildjian, a manufacturer of cymbals and other percussion instruments, has contracted with Ozburn-Hessey Logistics, a major U.S. third-party logistics provider, for the warehousing and distribution of product in North America.
Founded in 1623 in Turkey, Zildjian has always acted as its own distributor. 'This is the first time we have outsourced any portion of our supply chain process,' said Craigie Zildjian, chief executive officer. He noted that his company's percussion products have special storage requirements, including a temperature-controlled environment with strict humidity parameters.
Nashville-based Ozburn-Hessey Logistics is using its Synapse warehouse management system for the Zildjian account. The first phase of implementation includes the storage of drumsticks. Phase two will incorporate the company's cymbals.
