The containership ZIM Luanda arrived for the first time to the Port of Ashdod in Israel last week as part of the ZCA service’s new rotation.
The Israeli carrier said the ship discharged food, chemicals, paper,
resin, and defense supplies from New York, Savannah, and Halifax and took onboard several hundred containers to export to America, including outsize
cargo, and departed on schedule to continue its route.
The company said the ship was able to keep schedule, despite the fact that the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy was still creating severe delays in port operations when the Luanda set sail from the U.S. East Coast. In order to arrive on schedule, the ship increased speed and met designated operational windows. The ship was also worked in Ashdod despite rocket attacks from Gaza. – Chris Dupin
