ASIA/EUROPE CARRIERS LOWER BUNKER CHARGES
Ocean carriers’ conferences in the Asia/Europe trade have announced a reduction in their bunker charges as a result of lower fuel prices.
The Asia Westbound Rate Agreement and Eastbound Management Agreement, two regional arms of the Far Eastern Freight Conference, will reduce their bunker adjustment factor from $77 to $72 per TEU with effect from Feb. 15. The bunker charge applicable to less-than-containerload cargo will be $3.60 per revenue ton, also effective Feb. 15.
In a separate development, Grimaldi has announced an immediate reduction in its bunker adjustment factor from northern Europe to West Africa.
