JACKSONVILLE/FREEPORT FEEDER SERVICE LAUNCHED
USA SuperRoutes has started its Freeport, Bahamas/Jacksonville feeder service.
The goal of the tug-and-barge service is to feed cargo from the Bahamas hub port to Jacksonville, which will be used as a distribution point for the Midwest, Ohio Valley, Southeast and Gulf markets.
The service was a collaborative effort between the Jacksonville Port Authority, Freeport Container Port Ltd., and Peeples Industries Inc.
Peeples established the transportation and distribution capabilities of the system by establishing a consortium of companies comprising Peeples, West Atlantic Transport and Transloading Service, GST Logistics, Team Lines GmbH & Co., and Bridge Terminal Transport.
The serve sails from Jacksonville on Sunday calling Freeport on Tuesday, and departs Freeport on Friday for return to Jacksonville.
