Panama Canal directors name Benitez acting deputy administrator
The Panama Canal Authority's board of directors has appointed Manuel Benitez acting deputy administrator, second in rank to administrator Alberto Aleman Zubieta.
Benitez, an engineer, was in charge of the authority's industrial services department. He began his career at the canal in 1978.
The previous deputy administrator, Ricaurte Vasquez, has been appointed Panama's minister of finance and economy.
