SCI, CONTSHIP TO LAUNCH U.S. EAST COAST/INDIAN SUBCONTINENT SERVICE
The Shipping Corp. of India and Contship Containerlines are finalizing
plans for a direct container service between the Indian subcontinent and
ports on the U.S. East Coast by the end of the year.
The two lines, which are already established in the trade, say they have
tested the market by relay services via slot charter arrangements.
Both lines will provide tonnage to the new service, which will have an
expected transit time of 21 days between Mumbai and the U.S. East Coast. Most lines in the
trade offer a service with transshipment en route, the lines said.
