U.S. pulls licenses for defense exports to Venezuela
The United States said it will no longer authorize exports of defense items and services to Venezuela, effective immediately.
The State Department, which oversees exports of defense materials, said in a Federal Register notice published today that all licenses and approvals to ship these items to Venezuela, either under the Arms Export Control Act or International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), are revoked.
For now, the State Department said it will only maintain license exemptions for Venezuela regarding certain “temporary exports of firearms and ammunition for personal use.”
