U.S. CUSTOMS AMENDS TEXTILE TRANSSHIPMENT LIST
U.S. Customs has amended its list of overseas textile and apparel producers, which have been either convicted, penalized or banned from shipping their goods to the United States because of alleged transshipment activity.
The new list supersedes an early list published by the agency on Nov. 15. The firms which had been found to engage in transshipments are located in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Bangladesh.
Customs and trade law firm Katten Muchin Zavis warned apparel and textile importers to check the transshipment closely “because the name of a particular company may be very similar to another corporation” and further inquiry may be required.
The complete transshipment list is available on line at http://www.cebb.customs.treas.gov/public/cgi/cebb.exe?mode=fi&area=13&name=T-TBT99Q.TXT.
