U.S., JAMAICAN GOVERNMENTS SIGN OPEN-SKIES AGREEMENT
The United States and Jamaica have concluded an open-skies aviation agreement to remove all restrictions on air services to, from and beyond each other’s territory.
This agreement expands an October 2000 agreement between the countries to provide open-skies for all-cargo services.
Open-skies agreements eliminate restrictions on how often carriers can fly, the type of planes they use, and the prices they charge. In addition to passenger and cargo services, these agreements cover scheduled and charter operations.
Open-skies agreement reached by the Bush administration so far include Poland, France, Oman, Sri Lanka, Uganda and Cape Verde. The United States has concluded a total of 59 open-skies agreements.
