PORT OF LE HAVRE TO EXTEND BERTH ON QUAI DES AMERIQUES
The Port Authority of Le Havre plans to extend the berth at Quai des Ameriques to accommodate larger containerships.
The 170-meter extension on the berth's western end, will allow two containerships to dock at the same time. The work is scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2002 and will cost FrF 100 million, which will e financed by the port authority.
Port officials say the extension will improve handling capabilities until new terminals on the outer harbor become available in 2004.
