China approves Zhuhai’s container terminal

   A second phase of construction has commenced at Zhuhai International Container
Terminals (ZICT) in South China following approval from the Chinese National
Development and Reform Commission.
Situated on the Nanshui River, on the western side of the Pearl
River Delta, the Zhuhai terminal will be operated by joint venture between
Hutchison Delta Ports and Zhuhai Port Enterprises Group Co.
The new project involves construction of two new 50,000-ton
container berths with a total quay length of 824 meters (2,703 feet) and depth
of 15 meters (49 feet) to allow the handling of large container vessels of up to
70,000 tons.
