DEUTSCHE POST TO ACQUIRE STAKE IN SPANISH CARRIER

   Deutsche Post Group has agreed to buy a 49-percent stake in Spanish
parcel carrier Guipuzcoana, with an option to purchase an additional 2
percent of the company in three years.
   The deal gives Deutsche Post coverage in and access to the Spanish and
Portuguese small-shipment and freight markets, filling a final gap in the
German mail and logistics giant’s European delivery network.
   Guipuzcoana, with nearly $200 million in annual revenue, offers parcels
and palletized freight transportation services through a network of more
than 60 offices in Spain and Portugal.
   Analyst expect similar moves in Spain and Portugal from Deutsche Post’s
competitors.
