COMMERCE FINES U-FREIGHT $20,000 FOR ILLEGAL COMPUTER EXPORTS TO CHINA
The U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of Export Administration has imposed a $20,000 civil penalty on U-Freight for illegally shipping computers to China.
The South San Francisco-based freight forwarder made the shipment for Sun Microsystems in September 1993. The shipment lacked the required Commerce export license.
While neither admitting or denying the allegations, U-Freight agreed to pay the penalty, of which $10,000 was suspended, Commerce said.
