BA World Cargo, NWA Cargo reduce fuel surcharges
British Airways World Cargo and NWA Cargo said Thursday that they will reduce their fuel surcharges for the second week in a row.
Effective Dec. 1, NWA Cargo, the cargo arm of Northwest Airlines, will reduce its surcharge from 55 cents to 50 cents per kilogram for most U.S.-origin international shipments, while domestic bulk freight and VIP surcharges will be reduced from 23 cents to 21 cents per pound.
Also Dec. 1, BA World Cargo’s surcharge will drop to '0.34 (50 cents) from '0.37 (55 cents) per kilogram.
“Despite fuel prices remaining at an extremely high level, the stabilization of the market is visible through two fuel surcharge decreases in two consecutive weeks. This is a welcome reprieve for the industry,” said Keith Packer, BA World Cargo’s senior vice president commercial.
