Allgeier goes to Geneva to represent U.S. at WTO

The Bush administration has appointed Deputy U.S. Trade Representative Peter Allgeier to represent the United States at the World Trade Organization in Geneva. He replaces retiring Amb. Linnet Deily.

Allgeier, who joined the USTR in 1980, served as acting U.S. trade representative from February to April, between the departure of Robert Zoellick and the Senate confirmation of Robert Portman as the agency’s new chief.

Until his successor is in place, Allgeier will divide his time between Washington and Geneva.
