Columbia River dredging project one-quarter complete
The Columbia River Channel Coalition said Friday that the Army Corps of Engineers dredged 28 miles along the river’s navigation channel, meaning one-fourth of the project is complete.
Another $15 million in federal funds, plus matching funds from the states of Oregon and Washington, will go toward further dredging in 2006, and the coalition will seek $40 million in 2007, the group said in a March newsletter update.
