ARC adds 7th U.S.-flag ro-ro vessel to fleet

American Roll-on Roll-off Carrier Group will deploy the roll-on/roll-off vessel Aida as the seventh United States-flagged ship in its fleet.

American Roll-on Roll-off Carrier Group will add the roll-on/roll-off vessel Aida as the seventh U.S.-flag ship of its fleet.
The Aida will replace the Courage in the Maritime Security Program and will be enrolled in the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement.
Aida, currently a Swedish-flag ro/ro vessel delivered in 2006, will be re-flagged to the U.S. registry and renamed Aida early this year, ARC said.
“The vessel will be among the most capable and militarily-useful vessels in the U.S.-flag commercial fleet, able to carry tracked vehicles, helicopters, trucks and other military and high-and-heavy project cargoes,” the company said in a statement.
ARC is the largest U.S.-flag ro/ro carrier, and the third largest U.S.-flag carrier operating in international trade.
