Hertwig to lead Florida East Coast Railway

   Jim Hertwig will take over as chief executive officer of Florida East Coast Railway on July 1, the company announced less than a week after CSX said Hertwig would retire as the end of month as president of its intermodal division.

   Hertwig's background also includes stints as CEO of Carolina Freight Carriers Corp. and president of Landstar Logistics. He serves on the board of the Intermodal Transportation Institute at the University of Denver and the Intermodal Association of North America.

   Hertwig will succeed David Rohal, who will continue as vice president at parent company RailAmerica.

   FECR is a regional freight railroad that runs 315 miles between Jacksonville and Miami.

   CSX and FECR are both Jacksonville based.
