CHILEAN CARRIERS MERGE MED/WEST COAST SOUTH AMERICA SERVICES
The two Chilean ocean carriers Compania Chilena de Navegacion Interoceanica and Compania Sud Americana de Vapores have merged their two direct services in the Mediterranean/North Coast of South America/West Coast of South America container trade.
The merged service now has a twice-monthly sailing frequency and deploys four ships with an average capacity of 1,500 TEUs. Previously, each carrier had a separate service with fortnightly sailings.
The revised, joint service rotation is Salerno, Leghorn, Genoa, Barcelona, Valencia, La Guaira, Puerto Cabello, Cartagena, Callao, Iquique, San Antonio, Antofagasta, Callao, Guayaquil, Cartagena, Puerto Cabello, Valencia, Salerno, Leghorn, Genoa and Barcelona.
The joint service omits calls at Miami, Fl., that were previously part of Compania Sud Americana de Vapores’ service.
Madrid-based Compania Transatlantica Espanola takes space on the service, as a continuation of the slot charter deal with Compania Chilena de Navegacion Interoceanica.
