DAS AIR CARGO AWARDS CONTRACT TO MENZIES WORLD CARGO
DAS Air Cargo has awarded a contract to provide ramp handling for its twice-weekly DC-10 freighter services between London Heathrow and Africa to Menzies World Cargo.
The all-cargo airline launched its second flight to Kano, Nigeria and Entebbe, Uganda, on Oct. 4 with a full 65-ton load in both directions.
“This is an important new business gain for us,” said Robert Fordree, manager of commercial development for Menzies World Cargo. “We have demonstrated our ramp capability handling DAS Air Cargo’s Sunday flight and we are pleased that the airline has also chosen us to provide loading and unloading services for its second weekly operation.”
DAS has strong traffic flows to and from Africa, having provided scheduled services for the region over the last 17 years. Northbound cargoes include fish, flowers and vegetables. From London, the airline carries general cargo.
DAS Air Cargo now operates 12 departures a week from the United Kingdom, 10 of which depart from London Gatwick.
