The Baltimore Sun has reported that a federal arbitrator ordered a local of the International Longshoremen’s Association to pay about $3.8 million in damages after a three-day strike in October led to lost revenue at the port of Baltimore.
Riker “Rocky” McKenzie, president of ILA Local 333, told the newspaper that the union disagrees with the arbitrator’s handling of the dispute and is looking at ways to appeal.
Neither McKenzie nor Michael Angelos, president of the Steamship Trade Association of Baltimore, which represents port employers, could be reached immediately.
