MarAd warns U.S.-flag lines of heightened terrorist threat
The U.S. Maritime Administration warned U.S.-flag vessel operators to be increasingly vigilant against possible terrorist attacks.
The agency made the announcement after the Homeland Security Department raised its Homeland Security Advisory System status to orange, a condition signifying a high risk of terrorist attack.
MarAd said in a Dec. 22 advisory that U.S.-flag vessel operators should be on a heightened state of security, closely monitor the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency’s broadcast warnings, and review emergency communication procedures.
